Sodium PCA
INCI:
Sodium PCA
Function in our formulas:
Humectant
Humectants prevent moisture loss by drawing in water and holding it within the surface layers of the skin.
Where does it come from?
Sodium PCA is derived from natural, vegetable based raw ingredients.
What is it?
PCA = pyrrolidone carboxylic acid, and the sodium part of the name means this is the sodium salt form of PCA. It's also known as sodium pyroglutamate, or the sodium salt of pyroglutamic acid. Sodium PCA is considered part of the skins NMF (natural moisturising factors).
How do we use it?
Sodium PCA is used as part of a humectant mix we carry through to all formulas. We combine it with Glycerin, Sorbitol, and Sodium Hyaluronate in various amounts to achieve a deeply hydrating formula.
