Active
Where does it come from?
Allantoin is found in low amounts in plants such as comfrey, sugar better, and chamomile. However, most allantoin in use is synthetically produced as it is more viable both commercially and sustainably.
What is it?
Allantoin is a compound that has been shown to have amazing soothing anti-inflammatory and anti-irritating properties. In short, it's great for sensitive skin. Allantoin is effective as a skin protectant and is considered an OTC drug when used in therapeutic formulas in the USA.
How do we use it?
We use Allantoin at 0.5% in all of our formulas for its multitude of benefits to all skin types - and especially as an anti-irritant in our high strength formulas. It can be used at up to 2% but studies and the American FDA have shown 0.5% as the effective percentage.
