Where does it come from?
Centella Asiatica, A.K.A Gotu Kola, Indian Pennywort, is extracted from the plant of its namesake.
What is it?
Centella Asiatica has been traditionally used for skin conditions by native communities from where it has historically grown. It has anti-inflammatory properties, can assist with wound healing, and has also been showing to have anti-aging benefits. Studies show the triterpenoids in it are the active compounds in the extract - asiatic acid, madecassic acid, an asiaticoside.
How do we use it?
We use Centella Asiatica in our formulas for impaired skin barriers, and for those with sensitive skin. We usually pair it with other anti-irritant, and anti-inflammatory actives like Bisabolol, Panthenol, and Allantoin.
