Ingredients Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil

Coconut Oil

INCI:

Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil

Function in our formulas:

Lipid/Emollient

Where does it come from?

Coconut Oil is pressed and filtered from dried coconut meat - the white fleshy stuff inside the coconut.

What is it?

Coconut Oil is a great source of medium chain fatty acids (or medium chain triglycerides). You can sometimes see the esterified form of Coconut Oil in products as Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride. These medium chain fatty acids are a great emollient to soften skin.

How do we use it?

We primarily use coconut oil in formulas that seek to prevent sun damage. Whilst coconut oil doesn't protect in levels anywhere close to a proper SPF, it can assist in screening some UV light - while also providing great emolliency in these formulas.

It ticks two boxes for usefulness in these formulas. It's a great emollient and has sun protective benefits. Winner!
